About Part L1B for Extensions
Extensions to existing dwellings must comply with Part L1B of Building Regulations. Compliance will very often be confirmed following a series of inspections by the Building Control Officer.
Where an extension has high levels of glazing as a percentage of the extension floor area, there are three methods set out in Part L1B of Building Regulations to show Compliance.
The Building Control Officer may request calculations from a SAP Assessor to show the design complies with Part L1B.
